Milford Sound Scenic Flight
The flight to Milford Sound is as impressive as the Sound itself. From Wanaka you fly over lakes, mountains and remote forest fringed beaches before you fly up the full length of the Sound to reach your destination. This is country that is inaccessible except on foot, by boat or by plane. Mt Aspiring is one of New Zealand's most beautiful peaks, surrounded by permant icefields and glaciers. You arrive back in time to enjoy an afternoon at your accommodation or exploring the township of Wanaka.

Helicopter Excursions
The ultimate heli traverse of the Southern Alps to circle Mt Aspiring, one of New Zealand's most beautiful mountains, with big permanant icefields and glaciers, two landings and a breathtaking return over Lake Wanaka. The flight lasts approximately one hour. Helicopters are the ultimate way to see the kind of wilderness New Zealand has to offer.

Winery Tour
entral Otago has burgeoned as the fastest growing wine region in New Zealand and the premier region for Pinot Noir wines. British winewriter Jancis Robinson MW listed Central Otago among the top five wine producing regions in the New World and Robert Parker has strongly listed several local pinot noir labels. Between 10 minutes and half an hour away are some of the earliest established wineries and some of the country's best. They are all small boutique wineries, where the owners and wine makers are equally passionate about their product.

Raft the Clutha River
Pioneer Rafting run a half-day 22km eco rafting trip on a beautiful section of the Clutha Mata-Au River. The easiest water comes first, then the more challenging "Snake Rapids with a stop on the riverbank to pick Tea-Tree tea and boil the billy. There is time for native bird encounters and gold-panning, before running the "Pioneer Rapid" and the amazing Devil's Nook whirlpool. Not an adrenaline trip but rather you will learn a gread deal about the history of the area as well as the river environement and rafting skills.
Departs 1pm. Returns 5pm.

Wanaka Township
You can happily spend half a day exploring Wanaka's art galleries, shops and cafes and walking the lakeside. The town also has good spa and treatment facilities if you need a massage after a hard day's hiking. Sometimes it is nice just to have a free day or half-day free from activities to discover the place you are in.
Mou Waho Island Eco
Near the centre of Lake Wanaka is Mou Waho Island, a unique glacial remnant of the last ice age, the island is craggy and forested with several beaches and near the top is an idyllic little lake called the Arethusa Pool. The walk up to the pool from the boat landing is 15-20 minutes and you will get panoramic views of Lake Wanaka. The island serves now as a sanctuary and wildlife on the island includes Buff Weka, N.Z Falcon, Wood Pigeon, Bellbird, Tim tit, Fantail, Wax Eye, Greywarbler, occasional Kaka and Geko Lizards. This is a guided trip with excellent advice on the birdlife, history and geology of the area.
